The Origin of Marriage part 1

     In the beginning God created all things and He saw that all He created were good. And He said to someone that was with Him in the beginning: “let us make man in our own image, after our likeness”. This gives us an inkling that man was not merely created by words of His mouth alone like other things He created, including the heaven and earth; but was made with His hands.   Man was specially designed by God (Geneses 2 v 7). “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”. 

     At that, God was not still satisfied, viewed man and saw that he was not good enough as He pitied man’s loneliness and helpless state of mind, He consequently and consciously said: “it is not good for man to be alone”, (Geneses 2 v 18 ) . It simply means God could not guarantee man’s good living without a woman in his life - men please take note of that - not just a woman, but a woman with a value and virtue. A woman whose foundation will replicate a good helpmate is the type God performed the first and only divine operation on mankind and abstracted her (woman) out of him. 

     In Proverbs 31 v10, it is paradoxically looks like question with an answer when the Bible says: “who can find a virtuous woman? She is more precious than rubies”. King James Bible version puts a mallet:   “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies”.   A virtuous woman (wife) is what the Bible recommends, not a dangerous wife, like that of Samson’s and Jezebel in the Bible.

     Proverbs 18v22 said: “Whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtained favour of the Lord”. Woman is a good thing; she makes her husband good because she is innately good. “Her husband is known at the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land’ (Prov. 31v23).

     However, for the man, it is one thing to find a good thing, but another thing is to save-guide it. How do you cherish and keep this good woman that the Bible described to be more precious than mother gold (rubies)? Will you allow her turn sour? God forbid! So, to build a beautiful home that love lives, there must be friendship in the flowing waters of love from the husband who would be known and recognize at the city gate of where you are boarding in this more or less brief life.  You will work with good and active conscience so as to avoid the lure of asunder in your marital life in Jesus’ Name.
